This piece was one of my very first intuitive charcoal drawings. I had only ever done realistic creations with charcoal in the past, but felt very drawn to using the intuitive process with this piece. It spoke to me in a way that I never thought it would; I believed it showed the visual energy of intuition. With the abstract shapes and marks I found symbolism for a heart, a brain, an eye, nerves, etc. This piece felt very personal to me as it told me things about what I was feeling that I wasn’t very clear of at the time. So the name of this piece, ‘Gut Feeling’, was born, to honor the incredible nature of intuition and how much it must be trusted as it transcends the cognitive mind.
